Terms & conditions

These terms govern use of unscene, an independent movie and TV discovery, library and group-planning service operated by JHM, the site owner.

Using unscene

Use the service lawfully and meet the age and account requirements of your chosen sign-in method. unscene is not intended for children under 13. Email sign-in uses a single-use code; the same verified email address returns to the same unscene account with either sign-in method. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in account secure and for the accuracy and appropriateness of information you submit.

Do not impersonate someone, harass participants, submit unlawful content, attempt unauthorized access, bypass access controls, or disrupt the service. Do not submit private information about other people without permission. Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary to address abuse, security issues or legal obligations.

Email, support and automated access

Email sign-in codes are single-use and expire after five minutes. A room owner can send an invitation link to an address they enter; that link expires after seven days and only the account verified for that address can accept it. Do not use invitations to harass others. Transactional messages can be delayed or blocked by a mail provider, so an email submission or provider acceptance is not a promise of receipt. Do not share your code or session. Visit Help & support or contact help@unscene.watch for account, accessibility, privacy or service support; avoid sending passwords, codes, full payment-card details or another person’s private viewing information.

Only the owner may issue scoped agent or Worker credentials for the email and support interface. Credentials may be revoked, expire, and must be kept private. Automated access must stay within the issued scope, published request limits and applicable law. A public paid agent API is not offered under these terms; any future paid access will have its own disclosed price and conditions before a buyer is charged.

Rooms and movie nights

Sharing a room link or code lets other signed-in people attempt to join, subject to room availability, capacity, account limits, blocking and family permissions. Room hosts manage the session, and participants control their own answers and availability. A proposed or confirmed movie night is a planning record, not a booking or a guarantee that someone will attend, host or provide a title.

You are responsible for arranging any meeting, checking suitability and access, obtaining permission to use a location, and complying with applicable screening and copyright rules. Owning a disc or paying for a subscription does not necessarily grant public-performance rights.

Room add-ons and purchases

New ordinary Starter rooms last 30 days from creation. Some room and account types are exempt; existing rooms retain their stored lifetime. Check the room’s displayed time and purchase review before paying. Eligible adult members can buy an offered calendar-month extension for a room they belong to, or choose an available match or member-capacity add-on. Room time can restore a retained expired room. Explicitly closed or deleted rooms cannot be restored through payment.

Room add-ons are one-time payments and do not automatically renew. Purchased months extend from the room’s current expiry, or from payment time if it has already expired; elapsed time is not paused when someone leaves. Calendar-month calculations use UTC and clamp to the last valid day of the resulting month. Match offers set the room’s resulting capacity floor; Crew and Cast set member-capacity floors, while an offered extra-five purchase adds five member places. Capacity purchases stay with the retained room through time expiry and restoration. The selected offer and total, including applicable tax, are shown before payment.

unscene does not offer discretionary refunds for a change of mind, unused room time or capacity, or a decision to stop using a room. This does not limit refunds required by applicable law or available under Link’s Sold through Link refund policy. Link’s policy controls where it is less restrictive than ours, and Link may issue eligible refunds under its merchant-of-record terms.

Room add-on checkout uses Stripe Managed Payments, with Stripe acting as merchant of record through Link. Receipts and transaction support are provided through Link. For a charge, receipt or refund request, use the receipt or Link transaction support. For room access or a purchased benefit that has not appeared, contact help@unscene.watch. If the app shows payment pending or needing review, check that order before buying again.

No other upgrade, subscription, shared-funding offer or agent API fee is included unless a specific offer is displayed with its price, benefit, renewal or cancellation terms and any applicable tax before purchase. An expired or closed room and an ineligible account do not gain benefits merely because time passes. An order under review does not create an additional entitlement until fulfillment is confirmed.

Referral invitations and rewards

Joining the reward invitation program requires explicit agreement. A special reward invite link identifies the inviter and any referral partner before a new account accepts. An ordinary room link does not create reward or commission attribution. For ordinary member referrals, only a new independent adult account that registers through the special link and actually joins a room counts toward room rewards, once. Existing accounts, self referrals, duplicates, tests, children, teens and included unpaid second adults do not qualify.

An owner invitation can instead offer a banked welcome gift at eligible new adult account registration, without joining a room. The invitation shows its remaining places and benefits before acceptance. Opening it or starting signup does not reserve a gift. While the link is on and has capacity, successful eligible registration consumes one place and grants one calendar month, two match places and one person place, usable later in an eligible room you choose under the banked-boost limits below. Turning the link off does not remove an earned gift. An unavailable link can be accepted for ordinary signup without a gift; it does not earn a later gift if reactivated. These owner invitations create no paid subscription, extra room slot, inviter milestone or compensated referral partner, and do not place purchases under the reward-referral refund agreement below. Ordinary purchase terms still apply.

Ordinary inviters earn a banked room boost for every five qualifying joins. An offered introductory head start may count as four promotional units toward the first boost; it is not four people and does not count toward ongoing paid-account perks. A normal boost adds one calendar month, two match places and one person place. Eligible enhanced invitations provide a one-time three-month, six-match, three-person welcome boost. No referral reward creates another active room slot.

Banked boosts expire after 365 days. Redeemed match and people benefits last 30 days; added room time extends the room’s fixed clock and is not paused by departure or dissolution. A room can redeem once in 30 days. Promotional benefits combine by the largest benefit for each component rather than adding overlapping promotions, with limits of 52 matches and 30 people. The preview shows the actual useful increase before you apply a boost. Eligible ongoing paid-account perks apply to one selected ordinary room while the qualifying subscription remains active.

Where an invitation identifies a compensated partner, that partner may receive compensation on eligible account subscriptions and room add-ons under their private referral agreement. Attribution is fixed at accepted registration; the beneficiary is a single partner. This does not increase your price. Earnings are held for 31 days and processed in the monthly fifth-of-the-month batch once the cleared balance reaches $25. Smaller balances carry forward. The private agreement specifies payout processing shares and account exemptions. Unscene covers provider fees and protects earned partner commission on verified non-required refunds; legally required refunds adjust partner commission.

Purchases by accounts that accept reward referrals are nonrefundable except where required by applicable law or Link’s governing refund policy. If Unscene determines from verified evidence that a refund or chargeback breaches this agreement, account access is automatically cancelled and future subscription billing is cancelled or placed in recovery until the provider confirms cancellation. Lawful refund, unauthorized-payment, statutory cancellation and card-dispute rights remain available. Account access is not cancelled where doing so would violate protected rights. A raw refund request or dispute alone does not establish a breach. Contact help@unscene.watch to appeal or request an export or deletion; required financial and cancellation records remain retained.

Opting out stops future reward links and invitations. Earned banked or redeemed rewards and previously accepted valid invitations remain subject to their original expiry and limits. Existing lifetime financial obligations survive program exit. Deleting and recreating an account does not restore attribution. Only aggregate network counts and the partner’s own financial summaries are shown; private descendant identities and individual purchases are not shared with partners.

Your information and submissions

You retain your rights in information you submit. You authorize the service to store, process and display it to the extent needed to provide its features, including sharing room-related information with participants. Our privacy policy describes those uses and current controls.

The service is not a guaranteed backup. You should not rely on it as the only record of important plans or a media collection.

Catalogs, matches and viewing access

Title information, ratings, posters, season metadata and streaming offers come from external sources and may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate or unavailable. Discovery is not the entire IMDb catalog. Matches depend on participants’ saved answers and may not reflect changes they have not recorded.

Disc ownership and streaming subscriptions are self-reported. Availability may vary by region, season, edition, account tier and date. unscene does not sell or stream films, verify entitlements, process retailer purchases or guarantee that a group can legally access a title.

External links and purchases

Links to IMDb, streaming services, Criterion and retailers are provided for convenience. Those services operate independently and have their own terms and privacy policies. unscene does not control or endorse their content, products or services, and does not guarantee link accuracy, availability, prices, title editions, regional access or security.

Confirm the destination, edition, format, region compatibility, total price, subscription conditions and availability before buying or subscribing through a retailer or streaming link. Those transactions are with the external provider. Questions about those purchases, delivery, refunds or subscriptions must be addressed to that provider. See the source and link disclosures for how destinations are selected.

No warranty

To the extent permitted by applicable law, unscene and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise uninterrupted service, preservation of every record, error-free results, successful notification delivery, or safe and available third-party destinations.

Limits and rights that remain

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service or independent third-party destinations. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights, remedies, duties or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This includes applicable mandatory consumer protections.

Ownership, changes and questions

Titles, posters, logos, ratings and other third-party materials remain subject to their owners’ rights. Source attribution and an external link do not transfer ownership or grant permission to reproduce those materials. unscene is not affiliated with or endorsed by IMDb, Stremio, Criterion, Barnes & Noble, Amazon or any listed streaming service.

Features and sources may change or be discontinued. Material revisions to these terms will be reflected in the effective date on this page and communicated as required by applicable law. Direct questions, privacy requests and content concerns to the site operator at help@unscene.watch.
