Privacy policy

unscene remembers what you watch so you can find something to watch together. This policy explains the information the app uses and who can see it.

Who operates the service

unscene is an independent service operated by JHM, the site owner. It is hosted through OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare infrastructure. It is not operated by IMDb, Stremio, a streaming service or a retailer.

For privacy questions or requests to access, correct or delete your personal information, contact admin@jobhuntmode.com. This address also accepts reports about children’s information and other privacy concerns.

Information we receive and store

  • Account information. ChatGPT sign-in supplies an account identifier, email address and, when available, a name. The app stores your identifier, verified sign-in email, account type, profile name, and creation and update times. Your profile name initially uses the first part of your ChatGPT name when available and can be changed. Your verified email supports private invitation matching, account linking and account administration; it is refreshed from sign-in information when you return. Authorized administrators can view it, but it is not shown to other watch-party members. Account types and permissions are attached to your stable account identifier, not granted by entering an email. We do not receive your ChatGPT password or conversations.
  • Your library and preferences. Seen and not-seen answers, rewatch choices, season checkoffs, disc ownership, genre and decade selections, discovery mode, skipped titles, selected country and streaming subscriptions. Streaming subscriptions and disc ownership are self-reported; we do not connect to those accounts or verify purchases.
  • Rooms and plans. Room membership, quiz answers and progress, matches, suggestions and notes, interest votes, proposed dates and times, availability, and hosting choices. Information you enter is associated with your account or room participant.
  • Optional notifications. If you enable Web Push, we store your browser’s subscription endpoint and encryption details, along with short-lived delivery events. These support room updates and test notifications.
  • Technical information. Hosting, sign-in and push providers process information needed to deliver and secure the service, which may include IP addresses, browser information and request logs. The app does not currently include advertising trackers, a separate visitor-analytics tool, or a last-login tracker.

How information is used

We use this information to maintain your profile, avoid repeating questions, personalize discovery, calculate shared matches, show viewing access, coordinate movie nights, send notifications you enable, and troubleshoot the service. The site operator can inspect stored profiles and activity for operating and supporting the app. The app has no feature for selling personal information or targeting advertising.

What other people can see

Your library is not published as a public directory. Room participants can see participant names, quiz participation and shared outcomes, suggestions, interest votes and planning details. Watch-option panels can show members’ reported disc ownership, country and streaming services. Your saved answers also influence room results, which may reveal whether a title has been seen or is a shared rewatch.

Rooms are accessible by invitation link or room code to signed-in people who join. Anyone who receives or forwards that code may join; do not treat it as a confidential discussion space. Avoid putting addresses, contact details or other sensitive information in suggestion notes.

Service providers and external websites

OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare provide hosting, authentication and storage. Browser push services help deliver notifications and may process delivery metadata. See OpenAI’s privacy policy and Cloudflare’s privacy policy for their practices.

Title searches and metadata requests use external catalog services. Requests can include a search phrase, title identifier, genre, year or selected country. The app does not deliberately include your account identifier or full library in those catalog requests. Remote posters are loaded by your browser, which can disclose your IP address and browser information to the image host.

Following an IMDb, streaming or retailer link takes you to a separate service with its own privacy practices. Its search link may include the title you chose. See our sources and external-link disclosure.

Cookies, your device and notifications

The app uses necessary room-session cookies; the hosting and sign-in services may also use cookies for authentication and security. The service worker supports notifications and app installation. It does not cache private API responses or your library for offline use.

Notifications are optional. Use “Disable on this device” to remove the current subscription from the app and browser. You can also revoke permission in browser settings; revoking permission alone may leave a server subscription record until it expires or is removed. Notification previews may appear on a locked screen. A different domain or browser requires its own notification permission.

Retention and your choices

Profiles, library records and preferences remain stored to support returning users until you delete your account; there is no automatic inactivity-deletion schedule. You can edit your name, preferences, viewing details and answers in the app. Marking something “not seen” changes its status and does not delete the record.

Rooms have an access-expiry time that can extend for movie-night plans. Expiry stops room access but does not guarantee immediate database deletion. Notification events are eligible for cleanup after one day when delivery processing runs. Hosting providers may retain operational logs and backups under their own policies.

Open Account to export your account-linked data as a JSON file or permanently delete your unscene account. The export includes your profile, viewing records, preferences, discovery progress, notification records and attributable contributions to retained rooms, including expired rooms. It excludes other users’ private records and service-provider logs or backups. You can also email the operator for help, subject to identity verification.

Account deletion removes your profile, viewing records, preferences, discovery progress, push subscriptions and account-linked room contributions from the app’s active database. Affected rooms return to their lobby and empty rooms are removed. We retain account-to-contribution links in stored rooms so that your contributions remain attributable for export or deletion after you leave a room. Existing anonymous legacy contributions that no longer have an account link cannot be reliably attributed. Other people’s saved copies, already-delivered notifications and infrastructure-provider logs or backups are outside the app’s deletion controls. Deleting unscene does not delete your ChatGPT account. A new unscene account is created only when you explicitly start again.

Film Family and account controls

Film Family adds supervised teen accounts and parent-operated kid profiles, private invitation-email hashes, blocking, age-rating review and parent alerts. See the Film Family privacy notice for its specific limits, retention and parent rights. Deleting a parent account also deletes the supervised profiles it manages.

Children, security and changes

Independent use is not available to children under 13. Parents may operate kid profiles themselves under the Film Family notice. Users must also meet ChatGPT’s account requirements. If you believe a child under 13 has supplied personal information, notify the site operator so it can be investigated and removed where required.

We use authenticated accounts, access checks and encrypted connections, but no internet service can promise absolute security. Information may be processed in countries where our infrastructure providers operate. Applicable privacy rights depend on your location; this policy does not limit those rights.

Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. An app-update notice signals a new release; it does not by itself constitute consent to new uses of personal information.
